Corrosion Resistance of Grade 304 Stainless Steel
Grade 304 stainless steel exhibits excellent corrosion resistance across a wide range of environments. It resists rusting in most architectural applications and is highly suitable for food processing environments due to its ease of cleaning. Additionally, it is resistant to organic chemicals, dyes, and a variety of inorganic chemicals. However, in warm chloride environments, grade 304 can be prone to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking when exposed to tensile stresses above 50°C. Despite this, it can still perform well in such environments with intermittent exposure and regular cleaning.
