Taiwan’s Offshore Wind Energy Developments

Completion of 300 MW Offshore Wind Farm

Taiwan recently completed the Zhang Neng offshore wind farm, which has a capacity of 300 MW. This follows the inauguration of the 600 MW Changfang-Xidao wind farm in May 2024. Additionally, the upcoming Fengmiao wind farm is expected to generate another 500 MW of clean wind energy.

Impact on the Stainless Steel Industry

This increase in clean energy means Taiwan now has enough power to supply millions of households. It also positions the country to make its Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel industry nearly CO2-neutral. This will significantly reduce emissions from the production of one million tonnes of stainless steel produced annually in Taiwan.
