Chinese Stainless Steel Market Update
Chinese Stainless Steel Spot Market Prices Rise
Prices in the Chinese stainless steel spot market, particularly for hot-rolled coil, increased on Monday. Prices for stainless steel scrap also showed an upward trend. Meanwhile, Asian stock exchanges, notably the Japanese Nikkei 225, saw significant gains. Additionally, a major nickel plant in New Caledonia is being mothballed.
Stainless Steel and Nickel Price Increases
At the start of the week, the spot prices for hot-rolled Chinese stainless steel coils rose slightly by around 0.3%. Prices for stainless steel scrap increased by approximately 1.0%. Nickel futures on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) were up by as much as 0.7%, while spot market prices for nickel increased by about 0.61%.
Asian Stock Markets Surge
Asian stock markets experienced notable gains today, driven by anticipation of potential interest rate decisions by the US Federal Reserve in the coming week. The Nikkei 225 rose by more than 2%, and the Hang Seng increased by over 1.6%. Other Asian stock markets also performed well.
