Der 400 series stainless steels contain approximately 11% chromium and increased manganese compared to the 300 Serie. These alloys can be heat-treated to enhance hardness and strength. Due to their higher carbon content, 400 series steels have a martensitic crystal structure, which provides excellent strength and wear resistance. Jedoch, they are more susceptible to rust and corrosion than austenitic stainless steels and are generally less corrosion resistant overall.

Teda Metal Provide 400 Series Stainless Steel Coils
430 stainless steel coil belongs to the ferritic family, offering moderate to good corrosion resistance due to its relatively high chromium content (16–18 %). Im Gegensatz, its nickel content is very low—typically under 1%—with trace amounts of manganese, Silizium, Kohlenstoff, sulfur, and phosphorus.
This specific chemical composition gives 430 stainless steel excellent thermal conductivity. It is widely used in applications that require corrosion resistance, such as automotive trim, Küchengeräte, and food processing equipment. Its attractive appearance also makes it suitable for decorative purposes.
Typ 430 Stainless Steel Overview – Popular Ferritic Alloy with Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Typ 430 stainless steel is the most widely used straight-chromium ferritic stainless steel, commonly known as “17 Chrome stainless.” It provides good resistance to mild atmospheric corrosion and oxidizing environments. Its corrosion resistance and surface reflectivity can be further enhanced through bright annealing.
This grade features moderate ductility with limited forming, Biegen, and welding capabilities. It can be moderately drawn and is highly magnetic. Typ 430 stainless steel resists scaling at temperatures up to 1500°F and offers superior resistance to dry sulfur-bearing gases compared to chromium-nickel stainless steels.
Common applications include automotive and appliance trim, builder’s hardware, Verbindungselemente, display cases, interior architectural panels and trim, combustion chambers, chimney liners, sinkt, drains, and trays.
